Emily Weitzman is an award-winning writer/performer whose multidisciplinary performances draw from the worlds of theater, spoken word, dance, clowning, comedy, and performance art.
In 2026, Emily’s one woman show FURNITURE BOYS will get an off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse (June 11, 12, 13) and return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Underbelly (August).
In 2025, the debut run of FURNITURE BOYS at Edinburgh Fringe included sold-out shows, standing ovations, and a glowing 4-star review in the Guardian, which called the show “ingenious,” “shimmeringly silly,” and “ridiculous and revelatory.”
In 2024, FURNITURE BOYS premiered Off-Broadway at SoHo Playhouse and was a finalist in the SoHo Playhouse Lighthouse Series, where the show was awarded Theater’s Choice.
FURNITURE BOYS won the Fringiest Show Award at the 2025 Orlando Fringe’s selective FestN4, the 2024 Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Award, and was named Buzz PEI’s #1 Show for the 2024 Island Fringe in Canada.
The show’s premiere in Canada was called a “bizarre absurdist comedy” that is “weirdly poignant,” “one-of-a-kind,” "loopily, luminously charming" and “imaginative, thoughtful, playful, hilarious and relentlessly, infectiously joyous.”
In the summer of 2024, Emily studied clown and physical theater with Pig Iron. She has performed comedy and clown in NYC at places including Clown Gym, The Idiots Hour, The Tiny Cupboard and the Brooklyn Comedy Collective.
Emily’s award-winning performance poetry has been featured around the world. As a Watson Fellow, she spent one year touring as a featured poet, teaching poetry, collaborating with writing communities, and performing in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.
Her poem Couch won her Funniest Poet and Best Female Poet at national slam poetry competitions; her poem The Bread Thread was featured on Button Poetry, HuffPost, and Bustle.
